Life often reflects what we are carrying.

Have you ever noticed that when you're already irritated, everyone suddenly seems irritating?

You hit every red light. Someone is rude at the store. The person in front of you is moving too slowly. Even the smallest thing can feel like one more confirmation that people are frustrating and the day is not going your way.

I've had days like that. And I've also had days when I feel open, grateful, and good, and somehow I notice more kindness. People smile. Conversations flow. Little things seem to work out.

Is the entire world really different on those days?

Probably not.

But I am.

What we carry into our day affects what we notice, how we interpret things, how we respond, and often what comes back to us.

That does not mean we cause every difficult thing that happens. Life is still life, and people are responsible for their own behavior. But our energy is participating in every room we walk into.

Sometimes we walk into a moment already carrying a little frustration, doubt, or expectation from something that happened earlier.

Without even realizing it, we can start noticing everything that seems to match that feeling.

And usually, we find it.

We notice the short response. The look on someone's face. The person who didn't say thank you. The driver who cut us off.

But when we shift our attention, we often begin noticing something else too.

The person who held the door. The unexpected compliment. The conversation that felt easy. The little moment that went right.

The world did not suddenly become perfect. We simply became available to see more of it.

What we expect has a way of shaping what we notice.

Good energy has a way of finding good energy—and the energy we bring shapes the experience we create together.

Sometimes the energy of a room changes simply because one person walks into it differently.

That person could be you.

One person softens. One person laughs. One person decides to be open instead of guarded. And little by little, everyone begins to feel it.

That is one of the things I love most about retreat work. We are not showing up with everything healed or figured out. We are showing up as ourselves, bringing whatever we are carrying, and creating something together.

At Yandara, I have watched women arrive feeling nervous, tired, unsure, or completely out of their comfort zone. And then something begins to shift.

They laugh more. They breathe deeper. They feel seen. They remember parts of themselves they may not have felt connected to in a long time.

The energy we bring matters, but so does the energy we allow ourselves to receive.

We cannot always control the energy around us, but we can choose what we add to it.

Maybe we soften before we walk in. Maybe we take one slower breath. Maybe we decide not to match someone else's irritation. Maybe we offer kindness without needing anything back.

These are small choices, but they matter.

I have learned that I do not have to absorb every mood around me, and I do not have to hand my mood over to someone else either.

I can pause.

I can notice what I am carrying.

And I can decide what I want to bring into the next moment.

The energy in the room may not begin with me, but I still get to choose what I add to it.

This week, I invite you to notice the energy you are bringing with you.

Not to judge it.
Not to force yourself into a better mood.
Just to become aware of it.

What are you expecting before the moment even begins?

What are you noticing more of because of what you are already carrying?

And what small shift could you make before walking into the next room, conversation, or part of your day?

You do not have to control everything around you.

You only have to decide what you want to add to it.
